Years of research in AI have now been published in the prestigious journal Nature Medicine
Since 2018, Aagaard Fertility Clinic has been researching the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to select the blastocyst that offers the highest chance of pregnancy in IVF treatment, in collaboration with other fertility clinics within the Virtus Health group. This research led to Aagaard Fertility Clinic receiving approval in 2020 from the Scientific Ethical Committee for a research project, allowing a prospective controlled scientific study to determine whether AI is as effective in selecting the "right" blastocyst as experienced embryologists. The study was conducted in collaboration with both Danish and international fertility clinics.
This research has now culminated in the publication of an article in the journal Nature Medicine.
The conclusion of the research shows that blastocysts selected using AI have the same chance of leading to pregnancy as those selected by experienced embryologists, with the added advantage that AI takes 10 times less time to assess the blastocysts.
