Gynecological examination
After the initial interview, a pelvic exam is the best way to start assessing your problem. Depending on your symptoms, the specialist will check for changes in the labia, urethra, vagina and rectum. And there will also be an internal exam, to assess the size and location of the uterus, and to find out if there are any changes in your pelvic area.
It doesn't hurt to have this exam, and it doesn't take long. In most cases, the next step is an ultrasound examination.
